Makeup Application Tips, DIY Guide to Makeup

Love makeup? Master the art of applying and removing makeup perfectly with this DIY guide.

We all love using makeup, but how many of us know what is correct way to apply makeup and remove makeup? The best way to learn the art of perfect makeup application is to first understand your face and its high points correctly. Look at your face in a mirror and examine it from all angles. Your next step should be decide what equipment you are likely to use. The choice is between brushes, sponges, and your digits.

Makeup Application Tips

While brushes are great favourites with expert artists, for rookies they can be difficult to use. The first step to effectively using a makeup brush for application is to learn how to hold the brush right and use the right strokes to blend efficiently. An easy way to learn using a brush is start using a liquid foundation. Pour a small amount on your hand and then pick up some with your brush and apply to areas where you need coverage in small strokes. Start blending in with each stroke till you have an even tone across your skin. Do not dab the foundation on your skin directly and then use the brush to blend. Also make sure you have the right brush for the right part of the face. Each item of makeup has a different size and style of brush for perfect application. Eyelid brushes have small pads at either end of a piece of thin hard material. Lip makeup brushes are designed with fine bristles to apply lipstick, gloss or lip liner. Face brush is the biggest of makeup brushes. It is available in different sizes with handles and bristles of varying sizes. Blusher brush is soft and full and allows you to apply blush across the cheeks in swift motions.

If you prefer sponges, make sure you opt for wedge-shaped ones. Sponges are a great way to apply makeup because they cover a large area quickly. It is a good idea to wet the sponge before use and then put the product on it. It usually results in a dewy finish. The best way to use a sponge is apply a rolling motion and not dabbing one. If you end up using excessive product on your face, then don't forget to pat your face with tissue to get rid of excess product before applying a translucent finishing face powder.

Your fingers are a good way to apply a makeup too, but remember to use the product in very small quantities. However, in all likelihood you will need a brush or sponge to evenly blend the product in.

Tips for Applying Makeup

Makeup Removal Rules

Just as applying makeup is an art, removing it correctly is equally important. First thing to do is to pull your hair away from your face with the help of a head band. Next, concentrate on your eye makeup removal first. Moisten a cotton pad with your removal cream or lotion and gently rub the eyelid till traces of the hue disappear. Now get your cleanser (it must be suitable for your skin type) and wet your face with warm water. Then apply the cleanser on your entire face and lather up. Rinse a couple of times to ensure the makeup is removed completely.

If you have to remove makeup on the go, make use of a special makeup removal wet pipe. Most good quality pipes are not made from the paper but from non-woven material like fabric which helps to remove both normal and waterproof makeup efficiently. But don't forget your cleansing routine once you get home if you want your skin to look good forever.

Hair Type, Know your Hair Types

In order to determine your hair type , check it out by performing a simple test.

On the second day afer the wash, simply dab a tissue on your scalp . If you have oily hair then the tissue will leave an oil blot and if you have normal hair then the tissue shows nothing and it is dry, the strands stick to each other

Dry hair
The hair has a moisture content of approximately 10% tends to be limp, looks flat and lacks volume .This kind of hair are difficult to manage and have lot of problems associated with it. It does not hold a hairstyle . You will know all about the way in which greasy hair clings to itself and to your scalp, how the excess oil weighs the hair down and spoils your style, and how dust sticks to the grease so that your hair seems to be dirty only a day or two after it has been washed.

You know that your hair's condition is due simply to your sebaceous glands being particularly active. But you can help it to improve. Remember, sebum produced by your scalp does not spread itself over your hair by magic, or out of spite!

It is spread by direct contact of the hair with your scalp. And something as simple as passing your fingers through your hair speeds up the transfer of the grease. So, after you have styled your hair, avoid fingering it or running your fingers through it. You can thus slow down the rate at which sebum collects on your hair, and it will not get greasy again quite so soon. You should also wash your hair with, and use a special conditioner for greasy hair. This will improve the feel of hair that is greasy at the roots and dry at the tips, as well as protecting the hair from dirt.

The oil glands are not active and all the moisture in the hair evaporates and the hair is extremely dry and fragile and more prone to damage. Thus your hair dry or brittle and unmanageable with split ends. Exposure to Sun, salt and chlorinated water snatches all the moisture is drawn from the hair resulting in frizzy, dry hair. Thus dry hair needs great care and using harsh shampoo and chemical treatment can cause exceesive damage to dry hair.

Dry hair should be washed less frequently and that too with use a mild shampoo and a good cleansing shampoo specially designed for greasy hair as the chemicals present in harsh shamposs can cause furthervdrying of the scalp . Always use a cream conditioner afterwards. Never brush too hard and always comb it gently as dry hair is brittle and fragile. Also avoid the use of electric curlers and hair. Heat, open cuticles and harsh chemicals ans lastly poor care are majorcauses of dry hair. Massage well atlesat once a week and it is adviced to take a healthy and nutritious diet especially rich in zinc.

Oily hair
Here the oil gland is overactive resulting in over secretion of oil and trhus the oil is oily, greasy, or stringy .It is also accompanied with oily skin. Oliy hair can be made drier by getting it it permed or tinted . Oily hair is recognized easily as it looks more oily and greasy, the scalp and hair gets too oily and even after shampooing it attracts more dirt.

The oily hair should be washed as frequently as you like depending from indivisual to indivisual and no conditioner is required for oily hair. For best results oily hairshould be rinsed out with lemon andwith oils and shampoos rich in neem and henna. Its is very wrong to say that oily hair does not need a head massage. Infact head massage Is necessary once to maintain the pH level of the scalp. Oily foods should be avoided and more stress should be given on green leafy vegetables

Normal hair
This is the most ideal hair because it is neither too oily nor too dry or greasy. Normal hair is shining and can hold style really well. It is well balanced ,does not dry out and is not permed or color-treated . Thus normal hair looks been permed or color-treated

Indian head massage

Indian head massage is a wonderful relaxing treatment given to a person, while he/she sat in a chair. This therapy is practiced in India for over a thousand years. Indian head massage is a branch of ayurvedic treatment. Ayurvedic is a Sanskrit word meaning science of life.

The head massage has been a regular part of family grooming in India, where it is necessary for babies to be massaged from birth. By the age of six they are taught the massage themselves to share with family members. The massage can be carried out anywhere, as it is done fully clothed, with the person seated, shoes and jewellery removed.

Benefits of head or Scalp massage

To combat hair loss due to hypertension, poor circulation, serious illness and even the aging process, Indian men and women practice regular head massage. Today, everyone from children to grand parents use the technique to decrease stress, improve overall health and promote hair growth.

Indian women used vegetable oils such as coconut, almond, olive such as coconut, almond, olive and sesame to nourish the hair while promoting circulation through massage. They sat in rows and gently massaged the hair and scalp of the person in front of them.

Today, many local barbers in India give their male clients head massages after hair cuts to promote hair growth and health. Indian head massage is ideal for any neck or shoulder tension as it works deeply over muscles in this area and also pressure points, which help the muscle to relax.

The neck and shoulder massage is followed by a Reviving Scalp Massage which relaxes and stimulates the whole scalp and encourages the circulation to move to this area and bringing with it oxygen and nutrient supply to the brain and help stimulate hair growth.

It finishes with a Soothing Face Massage, which works using pressure points and draining techniques, which have been used during headaches and sinus problems. There is a fifteen-minute consultation followed by the treatment, which lasts 30 minutes.

The benefits of traditional Indian head massage are numerous and include increased blood flow, relaxation and toning of muscles, improving function of lymphatic system, by releasing toxins from the body. Pain relief during the massage by release of the endorphins from the brain. The massage helps with emotional stress, anxiety depression and creates a feeling of calm and balance.

Although, there are many different personal techniques for Indian head massage, osteopath and massage therapist has formalized the therapy known as Champissage. Champi is the Indian word for head massage and is the origin of the English word shampoo.

Champissage incorporates neck, shoulder and back massage along with head massage along with head massage for a powerful therapy that promotes physical, mental and spiritual health.

Healthy hair should be promoted from childhood with the help of regular massage. Champissage is found to work on the body’s three higher chakras located on the crown of the head, the forehead and the throat.

Charkas are energy centres that are believed to regulate the flow of energy throughout the body. Hence, working on the top three chakras can bring the entire body into balance.

In addition to healthy hair growth, other benefits of Champissage include decreased stress, more restful sleep, more energy and mental clarity.

Aromatherapy Benefits The Economy

Sometimes, you may be experiencing aromatherapy benefits without even realizing it. Just by walking into the cosmetics section of a department store, you are sampling the myriad fragrances on offer behind the counters. It purveys a spirit of decadence, a desire to own the products you can smell. Or, while pushing the shopping cart through the supermarket, the aroma of fresh bread wafts from the baked goods section, enticing you to buy wholesome, grainy goodness for your family. On a balmy summer night, the air can be heady with scents of jasmine and cut grass, triggering reminders of happy childhood holidays with the family.

Aromatherapy Benefits -

Insomnia costs the U.S. a mint!Sometimes, you may be experiencing aromatherapy benefits without even realizing it.

Aromatherapy benefits should never be underestimated. Our olfactory senses serve as important cue-givers for significant events, frames of mind and danger alerts. Applying these principles proactively is the practice of aromatherapy, a kind of mild hypnosis through the nose, where your emotions and bodily health can be influenced by what you smell. The beauty industry has boomed on the back of selling aromatherapy benefits to clients looking for something other than manicures and body waxing. Whereas a visit to the salon was considered part of a woman’s essential grooming regime (albeit a very enjoyable one), it has become a relaxing time to escape for a while. Beauty salons don’t call themselves that anymore. They’re now “day spas” or “sanctuaries”, welcoming havens that offer whole experiences, rather than individual services. It could be argued that taking advantage of aromatherapy benefits helps to alleviate the burden on the medical system.

According to the World Health Organisation, the estimated direct cost of the condition in the U.S. in 1995 was US$13.9 billion. Imagine if all those victims of sleepless nights doused a handkerchief with soothing oils of chamomile, bergamot and clary sage, tucked it into their pillow and didn’t miss work due to exhaustion, didn’t visit the doctor for pills and didn’t require evaluation by sleep specialists.

Relief from stress, depression, low energy, headaches and other health disorders can all be listed as aromatherapy benefits. The inhalation of herbal infusion blends can induce a calming effect on hardened work warriors and children alike. In fact, youngsters respond very well to the use of fragrance to allay fears and calm nerves.

The use of lavender, orange and nutmeg as a room spray before bedtime can keep “monsters” at bay, or before school and onto clothes can result in a more relaxed child heading off for math tests or school band auditions.

The healing properties of fragrant materials such as essential oils are well documented and widely recognized as valid. While they may never replace modern medicine as the number one method of treating certain conditions, aromatherapy certainly has a role to fulfil in a society constantly seeking less intrusive health solutions. Who knows? There may come a time when it isn’t an apple a day that keeps the doctor away, but a diffuser in the corner of the room emitting healing, natural scents.

Aromatherapy Skin Care

Ever since the healing and medicinal properties of natural herbs and solutions were discovered, the most popular aromatherapy subject has been skin care. Aromatherapy skin care is achieved by using natural oils, and herbs to obtain optimal skin health.

Aromatherapy skin care products typically are free of artificial ingredients, which can damage sensitive skin. In order to achieve a typical aromatherapy skin care solution, the skin must first be prepared for treatment by stripping away makeup, and other debris. Second, a combination of aromatherapy products is then applied to the skin, to treat various problems. Finally, most aromatherapy solutions involve applying a solution to the skin on a regular basis, to help maintain good skin health. This complete solution is what comprises an aromatherapy skin care solution.

Feeling Good In order to treat an area of skin, the skin must first be properly cleaned. A combination of Vitamin E, and seaweed will help clean the skin of makeup, and dead skin. This solution is often called a purifying facial wash. This is essential in order to properly prepare the skin for an aromatherapy skin care solution. In addition, a combination of Calendula and Soy can be used to also prepare the skin for an aromatherapy solution. Also, even a body massage, which will certainly feel wonderful, can help prepare the skin for an aromatherapy solution. Once the skin has been prepared, an aromatherapy solution can now be applied to the skin, allowing better results.

Treatment of skin with an aromatherapy and Vitamins

Treatment of skin with an aromatherapy solution varies based on the issue being resolved by aromatherapy and essential Oils. For instance, burns can be healed quickly with Lavender and Aloe. Skin blemishes, and acne can be quickly cleared up by using Kinetin, or Tea Tree Oil.

Vitamin C can also be used to heal dying and flaky skin, as well as to help maintain an aromatherapy solution. Jasmine and Ginger can be applied to the skin to help remove dead skin cells, as well as to ensure that skin cells are more radiant. In addition, pastes such as Seaweed and Cucumber pastes can be applied to the skin to allow the skin to maintain itself, and to enable proper air circulation on the skin. No matter what the ailment, there are several different brands and solutions of products which can help prepare the skin for an aromatherapy solution.

Finally, an aromatherapy skin care solution must be properly maintained in order to prevent future need of treatment An extremely simple way to help maintain healthy skin is to regularly bathe in Lavender oil, and use daily facial scrub solutions which will remove dead skin cells on a daily basis.

Vitamin E is also a very important item, as it can be directly applied to the hands, and other areas which are normally dry. Vitamin E is a vitamin that naturally helps keep skin healthy. In addition, Grapeseed and Seaweed solutions can be applied on a weekly basis, which will improve skin radiance and color. Herbal bath solutions, such as Jasmine, can also help maintain healthy skin.

Essential Oils, not just used for their wonderful fragrance, can also be used to maintain a aromatherapy solution. Once an aromatherapy skin care solution has been applied, and maintained, skin life can be greatly increased. Aging signs such as wrinkles, and dry skin are easily defeated with aromatherapy solutions available at many aromatherapy stores around the country, as well as body, beauty, and gift stores. Thanks to the organic formulas contained within these powerful formulas, skin has never been healthier, or more radiant.

Makeup Secrets | How to Apply Makeup | Applying Make up

Over weight is not only reflected in the body but also in the face. Glowing and shining hair combined with healthy smile adds to the beauty of even a very obese face. An obese face can look and appear beautiful if you learn the art of hiding the defects like round cheeks, double chin and heavy jaws with right make-up tricks.

Always apply make-up on a very clean face. Therefore first clean the face with a good cleansing milk, wash it well, pat dry. If the skin is oily then apply astringent and if it is dry them apply a good moisturizer to the skin. Use light and dark foundation to slim down and reshape your face. Use light foundation in the areas around the eyes and below the eyes to hide dark circles and also on blemishes. On this apply a dark foundation with damp sponge nicely so that it blends completely with the light foundation.

Puffy cheeks
Create a hollowness under the cheekbones with a darker foundation, extend it to the jaw line blending all the time into the skin.

Double chin
Use a dark shade right under the chin with a lighter shade in the crease on either side. For a fuller broader double chin, apply shading just under the jaw bone. Blend from ear to ear along the jaw line and under the chin.

Broad nose
To slenderize nostrils, apply lighter foundation over the entire nose and then apply darker foundation on either side of the nostrils. For too broad nose apply two strokes of dark foundation down each side.

Lip Makeup Application
To apply lipstick properly, you must learn to use the lip brush effectively. You should avoid dark lipsticks and use softer shades. Before applying lipstick, apply foundation to the lips because this makes a good base for the lipstick and at the same time it blots out the natural lip line so that you can outline a prettier shape with your brush. Fill the brush with colour, fashion the upper lip first with your lips slightly apart. Start from the outer corner following the natural curve of your lips and work towards the center. Let the tip of the brush draw the line on the upper lip. Use the side of the brush on the lower lip working at one half of the lip at the same time. When the outline is clearly escablished fill it with colour.

Thick lips can be made to look thinner by painting them within the natural lip line and covering the remaining area with foundation cream. If the lips are thin, the upper lip can be extended above the natural lip line but care must be taken to see that the extended portion follows the natural curve of the lips. The lower lip should be full and well-shaped by extending the lip line a little below the natural line of the lower lip. Your focus should be on the eyes; learn how to use eye shadow and mascara artistically. Eye shadow gives an enchanting touch of depth and mystery to the eyes. Eye shadow should only be blended on the upper eyelids. Use dark shades of shadow sparingly. Try mauves, pastel greens and blues instead. Close one eye and place a small amount of colour to and almost touching the upper eye lashes from inner to outer corner of the eyes. It should then be blended with your index finger or brushed upwards into a fade way effect below the eyebrows. It should be darkest near the lid.

How to Apply Mascara
First brush the lashes downwards to remove any foundation sticking to them then upwards over the upper eyelids. Apply mascara with a clean brush. Cover the brush with a light coating of mascara and stroke it on the lashes working from the base to the tip. The lower lashes should be just tinted with colour. When the first coat dries, apply a second one. When the second coat also dries, go over the lashes with a dry brush to separate them and remove excess mascara. If properly applied the lashes should be a series of individual hairs and not one solid mass. Remember your eyebrows. They should be well-shaped, therefore always have them shaped from a reputed beautician. For puffiness under the eyes, before applying foundation, use a concealer or a lighter foundation.

Health Tips - The seven keys to health

You'll feel better and accomplish more if you develop the habit of health. In this section we'll help you make the most important plan of your life, your plan for good health.

Good news! There are only seven major ingredients in a plan for good health:
• Exercise
• Diet and nutrition
• Not smoking
• Alcohol moderation
• Weight control
• Avoiding injury
• Professional prevention

In fact, most individuals don't even need to worry about all seven areas. You're probably already a nonsmoker. Quite possibly your body weight isn't too far from where it needs to be. Probably, if you drink alcohol at all, your alcohol intake is already moderate. Probably you already do some exercise, and probably you already have some good dietary practices. Most likely you already take some measures, such as using your automobile seat belts, to reduce your chances of serious injury. And you probably work with your doctor to have some of the periodic screening tests that you need. You may well have only two or three areas that can use additional work.

Homemade Facial Masks, Body scrubs and Face Packs

Face packs or face masks

There are required to supplement the primary phase of skin care, i.e. cleansing. Masks stimulate the blood circulation, tone the muscles and maintain the elasticity of the skin. Also they draw out the impurities from the pores. While applying the face pack use your fingertips to spread the pack gently over the face. Remember you should not apply the face pack around your eyes and mouth, thus leaving three circles on the face.

You can put the cotton pads soaked in cucumber/potato juice to provide relief to your eyes. It will be better if you can lie down while your face pack dries. Because this way you will not be stretching your skin which is being treated right then.

On the left hand side, there are some of the face packs which you can try according to your convenience. There is no harm in switching from one face pack to the other depending on its availability. But these shifts should be within the variety of face packs suggested for your skin type.

How to use a Mask

The first step is to equip your makeup kit with a flat wide brush.
Avoid fingers!
Be sure to knot your hair back, or gather it in a scarf or a headband. Your forehead should be completely visible and free of hair.
Wear clothing that will leave the neck area open.
Start applying the mask with your brush, using even strokes. Be careful to avoid the lips and the sensitive area around the eyes and include the neck area.
Retain the mask for at least 20 minutes (unless a particular timeframe is mentioned on the tube).
To remove the mask, moisten with some water and rub it off the skin gently.
In the case of peel-off masks, you will have to peel-off! Also rinse the face with plenty of water, incase the layer persists. Use circular strokes.
